The next chapter of Windows 11 is almost here, as Microsoft has published official ISO files for version 25H2. These files are available directly from Microsoft’s servers and allow users to perform a clean installation of the new release on their PCs. For those already running Windows 11 24H2, a more streamlined option is also available: the enablement package, which upgrades your PC to 25H2 with a smaller download and faster installation process.
The new ISOs cover both x64 PCs (Intel and AMD) and Arm64 machines powered by Snapdragon processors, and they include multiple editions—Home, Pro, and Education—in no fewer than 38 languages. Windows Central notes that these ISOs represent the RTM version of Windows 11 25H2, identified as Build 26200.6584. While Microsoft has retired the RTM terminology, the fact that these ISOs are being sent to PC makers confirms that this is the finalized build. File sizes come in at roughly 7GB for x64 systems, while Arm64 downloads are a bit lighter.
So, should you download the ISO now? If you need to perform a clean install or bring an older system up to date from 23H2 or earlier, the ISO is the way to go. For users already on 24H2, the enablement package (KB5054156) is the smarter choice. Available for both x64 and Arm64, it allows for a seamless upgrade without the lengthy installation process. Once Microsoft officially announces 25H2, these enablement packages will automatically roll out via Windows Update, making the upgrade nearly effortless.
Windows 11 25H2 is shaping up to be a significant release, bringing not only performance refinements but also new features like a redesigned Start menu and deeper personalization options. With the ISOs and enablement packages already in place, the stage is set for a smooth transition once Microsoft flips the switch on its next major Windows release.
