The World’s Tiniest Water-Cooled Gaming Desktop

System builders in the small form factor (SFF) niche are known for fitting high-performance components into compact cases, but one manufacturer has taken this to a new level. The MegaMini G1, a remarkably tiny water-cooled gaming desktop, is now available for pre-order and is turning heads with its cute yet powerful design.

The MegaMini G1, which has been showcased in preliminary designs at events like Mobile World Congress, is now up on Kickstarter with an early bird price of $1,500, with shipping slated for November 2024. Measuring just 255mm in height and 150mm in width—totaling under six liters in volume—this mini PC houses a 13th-gen Intel Core i7 processor and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 graphics card.

This mini marvel isn’t just about size; it’s also a visual delight. The MegaMini G1 features a sleek, vertical case with windows on three sides that showcase its custom cooling system, including four transparent pipes and an L-shaped radiator. According to Geekom, the system operates at a whisper-quiet 36 decibels, significantly quieter than traditional PCs. It also includes internal RGB lighting and a small LCD screen on top for displaying status messages.

The port selection is impressive for its size: four USB-A ports and a headphone jack on the front, and additional connectivity options on the back, including two more USB-A ports, dual USB-C ports, dual HDMI ports, DisplayPort, and a full Ethernet jack. However, there are some compromises. The MegaMini G1 uses laptop-grade CPU and GPU components, essentially making it a high-powered gaming laptop without a screen or keyboard. The RAM is laptop SO-DIMM (32GB in the base model), and while the SSD options include 1TB and 2TB, upgrade options are unclear.

Despite its charming design, the MegaMini G1 may not outperform other SFF PCs or mini desktops like the Asus ROG NUC in terms of raw performance. However, if your priority is owning the smallest, most adorable gaming PC, this little powerhouse might just be worth considering.
