Wyze Brings AI-Powered Video Descriptions to Security Cameras
Wyze is stepping up its game by introducing AI-powered descriptive alerts for security cameras as part of its new Cam Unlimited Pro plan. For $19.99 a month or $199.99 annually, subscribers get AI-generated descriptions for video events, offering detailed captions like “A suspicious person approached the front door and took a package” or “Three babies are helping each other climb out of their cribs” instead of basic labels like “Driveway” or “Living Room.”
This update brings Wyze in line with companies like Amazon and Google, both of which already offer AI-powered features like smart video search for Ring and Nest cameras. Wyze’s AI search feature also allows users to search their video history using natural language queries to find specific events quickly.
The Cam Unlimited Pro plan is available for all Wyze cameras except the Wyze Cam v1, Wyze Video Doorbell v1, and Wyze Cam Outdoor v1. Along with descriptive alerts, it includes smart object detection, facial recognition, suspicious sound alerts, and the promise of up to 60 days of cloud storage by spring 2024. However, it’s important to note that the plan is not compatible with Wyze’s Home Monitoring system, meaning you’ll lose 24/7 professional monitoring if you switch plans.
