The updated schema conversion feature, unveiled during the annual AWS re:Invent conference, enables enterprises to transition seamlessly between database platforms. Previously, AWS DMS was already capable of automating many steps in the database migration process, such as mapping database structures and converting common schema elements. However, the new generative AI-powered enhancement takes this a step further by tackling “certain complex database code elements” that previously required manual intervention. These include intricate stored procedures, triggers, and other database-specific logic, which often pose significant challenges during migrations.
