Red Hat Expands Collaboration with Microsoft Azure: RHEL AI and JBoss EAP 8 Integration

Red Hat has announced that Red Hat Enterprise Linux AI (RHEL AI) and Red Hat JBoss Enterprise Application Platform (EAP) 8 will soon be available on Microsoft Azure, signaling a deeper collaboration between the two tech giants. These developments, unveiled on November 19, are aimed at streamlining the deployment of enterprise applications and artificial intelligence solutions in the Azure cloud environment.

RHEL AI, which will be accessible via the Azure Marketplace starting December 2024, is designed as an optimized platform for developing and deploying generative AI models. It incorporates the Granite family of IBM’s open-source large language models (LLMs), alongside InstructLab’s alignment tools based on the LAB methodology for chatbot tuning. The offering emphasizes community-driven model development and provides seamless integration with Red Hat OpenShift AI, allowing users to fine-tune and serve AI models using familiar tools. This initiative positions RHEL AI as a powerful foundation for enterprises looking to leverage Azure’s scalable infrastructure for AI innovation.

Meanwhile, Red Hat JBoss EAP 8, already available on Azure, focuses on modernizing Java applications in the hybrid cloud. Released in February 2024, JBoss EAP 8 supports Jakarta EE 10, enabling developers to meet advanced reliability, security, and compliance standards. Azure integration enhances the modernization process by allowing developers to take advantage of Azure-native services such as Azure Red Hat OpenShift, Azure Virtual Machines, and Azure App Service. This alignment helps enterprises create scalable, cloud-native Java applications while benefiting from Azure’s robust ecosystem.

The availability of RHEL AI and JBoss EAP 8 on Azure underscores Red Hat’s commitment to empowering enterprises with tools for next-generation application development and AI innovation. By combining Red Hat’s software solutions with Microsoft’s cloud infrastructure, businesses gain access to a comprehensive suite of tools that streamline both application modernization and AI-driven transformation in a hybrid cloud environment.
