As the cloud services landscape becomes more competitive, particularly in the realm of generative AI, Oracle is positioning itself to provide the IT infrastructure necessary for developers and enterprises to leverage these technologies effectively. At Oracle CloudWorld 2024, the company highlighted its strategic focus on enabling generative AI applications, while also expanding its multicloud and distributed cloud offerings. Oracle aims to empower organizations by delivering integrated tools that facilitate the adoption of AI in their operations, helping them stay competitive in a rapidly evolving market.

Oracle’s Chairman and CTO, Larry Ellison, took the stage to outline the company’s vision for the future of cloud computing, building on the themes introduced the previous year. In 2023, Oracle revealed a three-tier strategy to support the growing generative AI sector, which included helping large language model providers like OpenAI train their models. At CloudWorld 2024, the company took the next step in that journey, unveiling new product updates and services designed to expand upon this foundational strategy. This included a deep dive into how Oracle’s infrastructure and tools are evolving to support the latest advancements in AI, application development, and security.

One of the major highlights from the event was the introduction of a generative AI-powered developer assistant for Oracle’s Fusion Data Intelligence service. This tool is designed to help developers streamline the configuration process and accelerate the integration of third-party data sources into the service. Fusion Data Intelligence, an evolved version of Oracle Fusion Analytics Warehouse, combines enterprise data with prebuilt AI and machine learning models to deliver actionable business intelligence. The new assistant will guide users through a step-by-step process, making it easier for them to harness the power of AI and improve operational efficiency.

In addition to the new developer tools, Oracle also showcased a series of updates to its Fusion Cloud Applications Suite. These included the addition of AI-based intelligent applications for Oracle Fusion Cloud Human Capital Management (HCM) and Oracle Fusion Cloud Supply Chain & Manufacturing (SCM). These applications go beyond traditional analytics by recommending actions based on AI insights, which can significantly enhance decision-making and streamline critical workflows across business operations. With these updates, Oracle is positioning itself as a key player in the evolving cloud landscape, helping businesses harness the full potential of generative AI to drive innovation and productivity.
