Keychron debuts $160 one-handed gaming keypad

The Lemokey L0 HE is Keychron’s latest stab at a premium gaming keypad, and it’s clearly designed to impress. Built with a solid aluminum chassis, magnetic switches that let you adjust actuation depth, thick PBT keycaps with cutouts for RGB, and layers of sound-dampening foam, it brings a level of refinement not usually seen in this niche. There’s even a programmable scroll knob, a detachable USB-C cable, and easy browser-based customization, making it a much more polished device than the earlier Lemokey X0.

That polish comes at a cost—$160, to be exact. It’s a hefty sum for a device that’s effectively half a keyboard, and the premium feel doesn’t completely offset the compromises. There’s no wireless mode, no included wrist rest (a big oversight for long sessions with this form factor), and customization is limited since you can’t program per-game settings. On top of that, the magnetic switches aren’t as flexible or widely supported as standard hot-swappable options.

For die-hard Keychron fans or collectors of premium input devices, the Lemokey L0 HE will no doubt be tempting. But for most gamers, especially those seeking versatility, cheaper alternatives like Razer’s Tartarus Pro or even more traditional mechanical boards may be the smarter buy.
