Microsoft Reportedly Working on Faster, Customizable Right-Click Menu for Windows 11

Microsoft is reportedly developing a redesigned Windows 11 context menu that aims to be faster, cleaner, and more customizable. According to information shared by Windows Central, the update will streamline the right-click menu by prioritizing commonly used actions while giving users greater control over what appears.

The overhaul is part of Microsoft’s broader effort to improve Windows 11 performance and modernize its interface.

A Simpler and Faster Context Menu

The current Windows 11 context menu can become crowded because both Microsoft applications and third-party software add their own entries.

The redesigned version is expected to:

• Prioritize the most frequently used actions.
• Reduce unnecessary clutter.
• Avoid loading every installed extension whenever the menu opens.

By limiting the number of items processed each time, Microsoft hopes to make the right-click menu feel more responsive.

Users Will Be Able to Customize It

One of the biggest planned additions is a built-in customization system.

According to the report, users will be able to:

• Show or hide individual app entries.
• Remove commands they rarely use.
• Reorder menu items.
• Control which applications appear in the context menu.

This would eliminate the need for many third-party utilities currently used to manage context menu entries.

Microsoft is also said to be adding a dedicated “Customize” button at the bottom of the context menu.

Selecting it would open settings where users can modify the menu layout and manage available commands at any time.

Microsoft has not officially announced the redesigned context menu, and no release date has been confirmed.

However, according to Windows Central, the feature could arrive as part of a Windows 11 update later this year if development proceeds as expected.
