Microsoft is evolving its Copilot AI chatbot by introducing a premium subscription plan called Copilot Pro, available at a monthly cost of $20 per user. Despite this new subscription tier, Microsoft affirms its commitment to maintaining Copilot as a free service, assuaging concerns of limitations or restrictions on non-subscribers. Copilot Pro aims to enhance the user experience by providing access to advanced features previously exclusive to business users, offering a cohesive Copilot journey.
Notably, some users have noticed an upgrade in the general version of Copilot to GPT-4 Turbo, OpenAI’s latest model, characterized by its efficiency and increased speed. However, GPT-4 Turbo will be reserved exclusively for Copilot Pro subscribers, ensuring they have access to the cutting-edge AI models. Microsoft plans to gradually introduce these advancements to the free tier in the future.
Copilot Pro aims to deliver a seamless cross-device experience, mirroring Microsoft’s vision for Bing, enabling users to carry over conversations across PCs and apps, with mobile compatibility arriving soon. The subscription also introduces access to Copilots for popular Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, and Outlook (excluding Teams), available to users with a Microsoft 365 Personal or Family subscription.
In addition to these features, Copilot Pro enhances creativity by offering 100 daily “boosts” in Image Creator from Designer, facilitating the creation of images at full speed. Microsoft further teases the upcoming introduction of custom Copilots, allowing users to engage with AI bots tailored to specific topics, adding an exciting dimension to the Copilot Pro subscription.
