Microsoft AI, a dedicated subdivision of Microsoft focused on advancing artificial intelligence, is set to inaugurate a new hub in London, UK.
Leading this endeavor is Jordan Hoffmann, an esteemed AI scientist and engineer at Microsoft AI, who will spearhead research initiatives aimed at advancing language models, bolstering supporting infrastructure, and developing innovative tools for AI models.
Expressing Microsoft’s commitment to the region, Mustafa Suleyman, executive vice president and CEO of Microsoft AI, stated in a blog post on the Microsoft website, “There is an enormous pool of AI talent and expertise in the UK, and Microsoft AI plans to make a significant, long-term investment in the region as we begin hiring the best AI scientists and engineers into this new AI hub.”
The establishment of this hub builds upon Microsoft’s recent £2.5 billion investment in the UK, which is designed to equip the workforce with the necessary skills for the AI era. It also adds to Microsoft’s existing presence in the UK, including the renowned Microsoft Research Cambridge lab.
