At Computex, Asus’s most electrifying reveal wasn’t its AI laptops, but rather the ROG Mjolnir Portable Gaming UPS. This intriguingly named power station is touted as “designed for both indoor gaming and outdoor activities.”
Traditional uninterrupted power supplies (UPS) typically run off AC power and aren’t meant for outdoor use, whereas portable power stations are versatile with multiple charging options. The Mjolnir combines the best of both worlds, boasting a 768Wh lithium-ion phosphate battery with a 10ms switchover time, four AC outlets, two USB-A ports, and two USB-C ports. It also supports USB-C Fast Charging up to 100W and Qi 2.0 MagSafe-compatible wireless charging, and can be recharged via solar energy.
According to Asus, this power station can keep a PC with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4080 running for up to an hour. It features an LCD display for monitoring power levels, and the handle of the hammer serves as a magnetic flashlight. While the price hasn’t been officially announced, similar power stations suggest a range of $600 to $800.
The release date remains a mystery, with Asus indicating only that it’s “coming soon” on its website. Patience will be key for those eager to wield this powerful device.
