Microsoft has officially discontinued the Real Talk feature in its Copilot AI assistant, just months after its initial rollout.
According to a report by Windows Latest, the feature is no longer available, and all existing conversations have been archived. Users can no longer start new Real Talk sessions.
What made Real Talk different?
Real Talk was designed to offer a more human-like and thoughtful interaction style compared to standard Copilot chats. It could:
- Use contextual “memory” about users
- Provide more analytical and reflective responses
- Challenge user opinions instead of simply agreeing
- Adjust tone between emotional and logical depth
This made it stand out as a more conversational and nuanced AI experience.
Why was it removed?
Microsoft says Real Talk was always intended as an experimental feature. Insights gathered from the test will now be used to improve Copilot more broadly.
One key takeaway: users don’t just want validation from AI—they’re increasingly looking for engaging, nuanced conversations that feel more meaningful.
What it means for Copilot
While Real Talk itself is gone, its ideas may live on in future Copilot updates. The experiment highlights a growing shift in how users interact with AI—not just as a tool, but as something closer to a conversational partner.
