New Logitech MX Master 4 Leak Hints at AI Features and a Refined Design

If you’ve been waiting for a refresh to Logitech’s beloved MX Master mouse line, your patience may be rewarded soon. A series of design filings uncovered in the EU Intellectual Property Office—and shared by Notebook Check—appear to reveal the upcoming MX Master 4, complete with subtle hardware tweaks and one big surprise: an extra thumb button.

These leaked images, believed to be final promotional materials, show an evolution rather than a revolution. The mouse still retains its ergonomic, sculpted shape, but there are clear refinements. The split between the primary click buttons and the body now follows a unified, cleaner line, and the side-mounted gesture button has been moved up next to the regular thumb buttons. A third thumb button joins the group, possibly signaling new functionality.

One educated guess? Logitech may pitch the new button as an AI prompt launcher, in keeping with growing trends toward integrating AI into productivity workflows. It’s not confirmed, but it would align well with Logitech’s recent marketing focus. The MX Master 3S already targets power users, so a button tailored for tools like ChatGPT or Copilot wouldn’t be far-fetched.

While the bottom and charging port aren’t shown in the filings, it’s likely the mouse will feature a high-end sensor—possibly an upgrade over the current 8000 DPI sensor found in the 3S. Logitech might also refresh battery performance or offer better customization through its Options+ software.

Pricing is expected to remain in the same ballpark as the current model, at around $120. As for when it will launch, that remains unclear—but with this kind of regulatory leak, a pre-fall release window seems probable.
