ChromeOS 133 Is Now Rolling Out to Chromebooks—Here’s What’s New

ChromeOS 133 is now rolling out to Chromebooks, bringing a set of useful refinements to accessibility, screen recording, and audio processing. As with previous ChromeOS updates, this release is being deployed in stages, so some users may need to wait a few days before it becomes available on their devices.

One of the key enhancements in this update is Bounce Keys, an accessibility-focused feature that helps users with motor impairments or tremors by filtering out repeated keystrokes within a specified time frame. This helps prevent accidental inputs, making typing more reliable for affected users. Meanwhile, ChromeOS’s Screencast tool now supports transcripts and translations in over 50 languages, significantly expanding its usefulness for non-English speakers and those who rely on multilingual content creation.

For those using Bluetooth microphones, Google is introducing Super Resolution audio processing, a feature that improves the clarity and quality of Bluetooth mic input when using supported headsets. This option can be toggled on through the audio settings on compatible Chromebooks. Additionally, Google has refined the Welcome Tour experience, offering an improved onboarding process with interactive elements that help new users quickly familiarize themselves with ChromeOS’s key features.

Since the rollout is gradual, some users might not see the update right away. However, ChromeOS 133 represents another step forward in Google’s efforts to enhance accessibility, usability, and overall system functionality. Chromebook users can look forward to a more polished and user-friendly experience once the update reaches their devices.
