The AirPods Pro, standing strong in the wireless earbuds market for over four years, have become a go-to choice for Apple aficionados, delivering impressive sound quality, top-tier active noise canceling, and a sleek, compact design. Despite their excellence, even these earphones may face occasional glitches, such as Bluetooth connectivity issues, especially after prolonged use. Whether you’re troubleshooting or preparing to sell your AirPods, mastering the art of resetting them is a valuable skill.
The process of resetting AirPods is quick and universal across all models – be it the original AirPods, AirPods 2, AirPods 3, or the noise-canceling AirPods Pro. Simply place your AirPods in their charging case and close the lid. After 30 seconds, open the lid to connect to your iPhone or iPad. Navigate to Settings > Bluetooth and tap the blue “i” icon next to your AirPods. If your AirPods aren’t visible, proceed to the next step.
Tap “Forget This Device” and confirm the action. With your AirPods forgotten, open the lid, press and hold the button on the back of the case for approximately 15 seconds or until the status light flashes amber, then white. For Android users, the first two steps are identical, followed by going to Settings > Connected Devices > cog icon next to your AirPods or AirPods Pro. Tap “Forget” and then “Forget device” to complete the process.
Post-reset, your AirPods will no longer automatically recognize devices linked to your iCloud account. When you open the AirPods case near an iOS device, it triggers the setup process, treating it as if you were using them for the first time.
