Steam is home to millions of PC gamers, many of whom take pride in building up large digital collections of titles during seasonal sales. It’s a familiar story: games get bought in bundles, tucked away in the library, and rarely ever played. But while most users end up with libraries numbering in the hundreds or perhaps a few thousand, one gamer has pushed the concept of a Steam collection into uncharted territory. Known as SonixLegend, this longtime Steam user has now become the platform’s record-holder for the largest personal game library, boasting more than 40,000 titles.
Valve has even recognized the scale of this collection by awarding SonixLegend a unique badge to commemorate the achievement. According to his public profile, he has been on Steam for 15 years, during which time he has steadily accumulated this massive trove of digital games. Unlike many tracking numbers that count free-to-play titles or add-on content, this milestone only includes full, purchased game releases. On top of those, SonixLegend also holds more than 22,000 downloadable content packs, adding another layer of depth to his account.
The financial side of the collection is just as jaw-dropping as the sheer volume. Data from SteamDB suggests his account has a paid value of approximately $249,000 USD, though the current resale value of the games—if someone tried to replicate the collection at today’s store prices—would exceed $641,000 USD. That makes his Steam library not only the largest in size but arguably one of the most valuable accounts on the platform. It’s a collection that reflects both dedication and an immense investment in the Steam ecosystem.
Of course, owning more than 40,000 games doesn’t necessarily mean playing them all. Like many gamers, SonixLegend undoubtedly has more unplayed titles than finished ones. Nevertheless, he has racked up nearly 80,000 achievements across different games, and he appears to have a particular fondness for Alien Swarm, a free cooperative shooter released in 2010. He logged more than 550 hours in that game alone, earning every available achievement. Looking ahead, if he continues purchasing at his current pace, SonixLegend could very well cross the 50,000-game threshold in just a few years, setting a record that may stand unchallenged for decades.
