First shown at CES 2026, the Retro X5 stands out with its throwback aesthetic, mimicking the iconic look of the original NES while delivering high-end performance under the hood.
Modern specs in a retro shell
Despite its vintage appearance, the system is powered by an AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 processor, paired with 32GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD. The chip includes a 12-core CPU and a strong integrated GPU, putting it on par with other premium mini PCs in its class.
The device is also upgrade-friendly, featuring:
- Dual SODIMM slots for DDR5 RAM
- Two M.2 Gen4 SSD slots
- Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4
Compact but well-connected
Measuring just 139mm across, the Retro X5 still offers a solid port selection:
- HDMI and DisplayPort
- USB-C and multiple USB-A ports
- Dual Ethernet
It can support up to three displays, depending on port usage.
Style meets controversy
The design clearly draws inspiration from Nintendo’s original console, walking a fine line between homage and imitation. Meanwhile, AceMagic has previously faced scrutiny over security concerns in 2023, though the company stated those issues were resolved.
Priced at around $959, the Retro X5 is positioned as a premium mini PC aimed at users who want both performance and a distinctive retro aesthetic.
