If you frequently keep numerous tabs open in Chrome, you’ve probably experienced a slowdown in your PC’s performance, especially when engaging in tasks beyond simple web browsing.

Thankfully, the latest beta version of Chrome includes a new feature that warns you when a specific tab is using too many resources. This feature allows you to decide whether to close the problematic tab to boost performance.

To access this feature, download the latest version of Chrome Canary from Google’s website.

After installation, open Chrome Canary and enter chrome://flags into the address bar, then hit Enter. This will take you to a page where you can modify various hidden settings in Chrome.

To enable the performance warning, locate and activate these two flags:

    • #performance-intervention-ui
    • #performance-intervention-demo-mode flag

    Then, restart your computer.

Once your computer has restarted, reopen Chrome Canary and type chrome://settings/performance into the address bar, then press Enter. You should see an option for Performance Issue Alerts, as detailed by Windows Latest.
