The PC building community is mourning the end of an era as Cooler Master delivers the sobering news— the NR200, a mini-ITX case that became a cornerstone for countless pandemic-era PC builds, is officially entering retirement. The NR200, renowned for its affordability, adaptability, and compatibility with horizontal GPU configurations, has become a symbol of small-form-factor excellence.

The introduction of the NR200P V2 at CES 2024 initially sparked hopes that the NR200 would continue its legacy as the standard version of the case. However, Cooler Master has officially declared the NR200 as reaching its “end of life” (EOL), leaving enthusiasts to bid farewell to a beloved companion in their PC building journeys. The NR200P V2, poised to take the mantle, introduces significant changes that have stirred the community. Notably, the price has seen a substantial increase, rising from the original NR200’s $80 to the V2’s $140. More significantly, the V2 foregoes support for horizontal GPU mounting, a feature that endeared the NR200 to small-form-factor enthusiasts.

As the NR200 bows out, questions linger about the rationale behind retiring a case that has been a cornerstone in SFF recommendations. The NR200 is set to become a collector’s item, prompting those who cherish its legacy to act swiftly before it disappears from the market. The retirement of the NR200 marks a significant chapter in the history of mini-ITX cases, leaving an undeniable void in the hearts of PC builders worldwide.
