HP OmniBook 5 drops to $699 with 16GB RAM and long battery life

    HP’s OmniBook 5 Laptop Receives $200 Discount at B&H

The HP OmniBook 5 is currently available for approximately $699 through B&H, marking a $200 reduction from its original $899 retail price.

The discount positions the 16-inch laptop as a more competitive option within the mid-range productivity market, particularly as pricing pressures continue affecting the broader PC industry due to ongoing RAM and SSD supply concerns.

Intel Core Ultra Processor Targets Everyday Productivity

The OmniBook 5 is powered by Intel’s Core Ultra 7 255U processor, a modern energy-efficient chip designed for thin-and-light laptops focused on office workloads, multitasking and daily computing tasks.

HP pairs the processor with 16GB of LPDDR5X memory and a 1TB SSD, providing storage capacity and performance levels that comfortably support modern Windows 11 usage.

The laptop is designed primarily for productivity rather than gaming or high-end creative workloads. Integrated Intel graphics handle everyday visual tasks efficiently but are not intended for demanding gaming or advanced graphics processing.

Battery life is estimated at roughly eight to ten hours under normal usage conditions, supported by a 59Wh battery configuration.

16-Inch Touchscreen and Standard Connectivity Included

The device includes a 16-inch IPS touchscreen with a 1920×1200 resolution, offering slightly taller screen space compared to traditional Full HD displays. Brightness reaches approximately 300 nits, placing the display within standard expectations for this category rather than premium ultrabook territory.

Connectivity options include dual USB-C ports, two USB-A ports and HDMI 2.1 support for external displays and accessories.

HP also includes several quality-of-life features commonly expected in modern productivity systems, including a full-sized keyboard and an infrared webcam compatible with Windows Hello facial recognition.

    Discount Improves Overall Value Proposition

While the OmniBook 5 faced criticism at its original launch pricing, the reduced $699 price significantly improves its standing against competing mid-range Windows laptops.

The combination of a modern Intel processor, 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage is becoming increasingly difficult to find in lower-priced laptops as hardware costs continue rising across the industry.

The promotion may therefore appeal to students, remote workers and general consumers searching for a long-term everyday Windows laptop without entering premium ultrabook pricing ranges.
