Laptops with vibrant OLED displays are becoming more common, but dual OLED screens? That’s a game-changer, and GPD’s Duo is here to deliver this futuristic experience wrapped in a familiar laptop design. Currently available for pre-order on Indiegogo at $1,275, GPD, known for its innovative handheld gaming devices, has stepped into the laptop arena with this exciting offering.

The GPD Duo boasts dual 13.3-inch OLED touchscreens, each sporting a stunning 2880×1800 resolution. This laptop allows users to fold the screens in various ways: use it like a traditional laptop with a single screen or showcase both displays in a stacked arrangement for enhanced multitasking. A fold-out kickstand provides additional stability for presentations or watching content.

Internally, the Duo is powered by an AMD Ryzen 7 8840U processor, paired with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage in the base model. For those needing more power, a premium configuration is available for $1,867, featuring a Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 CPU, 64GB of RAM, and 2TB of storage.

Despite its cutting-edge features, the GPD Duo isn’t the lightest laptop around, weighing 4.8 pounds (2.2 kilograms). However, it compensates with a plethora of ports, including dual USB-C, dual USB-A, HDMI, Ethernet, an SD card slot, and an OCuLink port for the optional GPD G1 external graphics card, enhancing its versatility as a productivity machine.

Powered by an 80-watt-hour battery, GPD claims the Duo can last up to 14 hours on a single charge and supports 100-watt charging to quickly replenish power. The laptop also features dual M.2 slots, allowing for a total storage capacity of up to 16TB, catering to users with extensive storage needs. Notably, the second screen can operate as a standalone monitor via USB-C Alt Mode, making it compatible with various gaming consoles, including the Steam Deck and Nintendo Switch, although some may require additional adapters.

GPD has a solid reputation for delivering on its promises, and with early bird shipping set for November, potential buyers can feel secure in their investment. However, while the concept of a dual-screen laptop is compelling, it’s worth considering whether this innovative design aligns with your personal workflow before making a purchase.
