Pulsar’s $180 gaming mouse includes a built-in Noctua cooling fan

Noctua Teams Up With Pulsar for a Gaming Mouse With a Built-In Fan

Noctua is best known for its ultra-quiet cooling fans found in countless PC builds, but the Austrian company has now entered a far more unusual category. In collaboration with gaming peripheral maker Pulsar, it has introduced the Feinmann FO1, a high-end wireless gaming mouse featuring a built-in cooling fan.

Rather than cooling the mouse’s hardware, the tiny fan is designed to keep the user’s hand cool during extended gaming sessions.

A Tiny Noctua Fan Inside a Gaming Mouse

At the heart of the collaboration is Noctua’s 40mm NF-A4x10 fan—the smallest fan in the company’s lineup.

Mounted inside the mouse at an angle, the fan pushes air through the mouse’s perforated shell, directing airflow toward the user’s palm and fingers. The goal is to reduce heat and sweat during long gaming sessions, rather than improve the mouse’s internal temperatures.

While active cooling is common for PC components such as CPUs and graphics cards, it’s an unusual addition to a gaming mouse, where heat generation is rarely an issue.

    Premium Gaming Hardware

Beyond its distinctive cooling system, the Feinmann FO1 includes specifications expected from a flagship gaming mouse, including:

    • 42,000 DPI optical sensor
    • 8,000Hz polling rate
    • Optical switches
    • Carbon composite shell
    • Aluminum alloy scroll wheel
    • Lightweight 70-gram design
    • Two programmable side buttons

The mouse does not feature dedicated buttons for changing DPI or polling rate. Instead, those settings can be adjusted using controls located on the included wireless receiver.

    Fan Controls Without Software

One of the more unique aspects of the design is that the cooling fan can be controlled directly from the mouse.

Using a combination of button presses and the scroll wheel, users can turn the fan on or off without installing additional software, allowing for quick adjustments during gameplay.

A Premium Price for a Niche Feature

The Pulsar x Noctua Feinmann FO1 is priced at $180, placing it well above many competing gaming mice.

The higher price reflects both its flagship hardware and Noctua’s reputation for premium engineering, as the company has historically commanded higher prices for its branded collaborations.

    An Unusual Collaboration

The built-in fan is unlikely to become an essential feature for most gamers, but it highlights the industry’s continued experimentation with gaming peripherals.

For players who struggle with sweaty hands during marathon gaming sessions, the Feinmann FO1 offers a novel solution. Whether that feature justifies its premium price is another question, but it certainly stands out as one of the more unconventional gaming mice released this year.
