A wave of price hikes is about to hit the storage and memory market, and Samsung is leading the charge. The company has confirmed plans to raise prices on its DRAM and NAND products starting in Q4 2025, a shift that will affect everything from RAM modules in gaming PCs to SSDs in laptops and servers.
The increases aren’t small, either. DRAM costs are expected to rise between 15 and 30 percent, while NAND-based drives will jump by around 5 to 10 percent. Industry insiders say the surge in demand from cloud service providers—who are stockpiling hardware to fuel AI models and large-scale data operations—is one of the key forces driving up costs. With supply chains tightening, manufacturers are seizing the opportunity to boost margins.
Other memory makers are following suit. SanDisk has reportedly announced a 10 percent increase in NAND device prices, while Micron is preparing to raise costs on memory and storage by as much as 20 to 30 percent. Together, these hikes suggest that the affordability of SSDs and RAM modules, which have been relatively budget-friendly in recent years, may soon be a thing of the past.
For everyday users, gamers, and professionals, the takeaway is straightforward: waiting could cost you more. Whether you’re planning to build a PC, upgrade your laptop, or expand storage for creative work, buying sooner rather than later could save you a noticeable chunk of change before the next wave of increases lands.
