SanDisk’s new low-profile USB drive launches November 4

SanDisk’s “World’s Smallest” USB-C Flash Drive Is Tiny Enough to Forget

SanDisk is reimagining portable storage once again with a new USB-C flash drive so small you’ll probably never remove it. The device was unveiled at the 2025 Pepcom Holiday Spectacular, ahead of its official launch on November 4, and while SanDisk hasn’t revealed the official model name yet, it’s already making waves as a follow-up to the Ultra Fit lineup that debuted back in 2018.

That earlier Ultra Fit model used a USB-A connector, but SanDisk teased a USB-C version even then. Now, seven years later, the company has brought that concept to life in a more refined and polished form. This new USB-C drive features a unique perpendicular orientation to the connector, allowing it to sit nearly flush against your device—almost disappearing once inserted. Unlike the bulky flash drives of old, this design means you can keep it plugged in at all times, whether it’s on your laptop, Chromebook, or smartphone.

SanDisk’s product team described the new drive as something that “plugs in and stays in,” noting that it’s designed to become a permanent extension of your digital workspace rather than a temporary add-on. Because of its squat, ultra-low profile, users no longer have to worry about bumping or snapping the drive when carrying their devices in bags or sleeves.

The compact design doesn’t mean it’s slow, either. The drive supports USB 3.2 Gen 1 speeds (up to 5Gbps), which is sufficient for everyday tasks like transferring documents, backing up photos, or streaming media directly from the drive. SanDisk also includes its Memory Zone software, offering convenient tools for automatic backups and storage management across multiple devices.

Thanks to its USB-C interface, this drive works seamlessly with a wide range of modern hardware, including laptops, tablets, Android phones, and even gaming consoles. The shared USB-C standard means that one tiny device can handle everything from mobile file backups to laptop storage expansion without adapters or cables.

In a world where flash drives are becoming less about capacity and more about convenience, SanDisk’s approach is refreshingly practical. The new model comes in capacities from 64GB ($14.99) to 1TB ($109.99), with all options launching on Amazon on November 4. For anyone who values minimalist design and portable performance, this “plug-and-stay” drive might be the most unobtrusive storage upgrade yet—one you’ll likely forget is even there.
