Simpler setup coming to Windows 11

Windows 11 Will Finally Let You Skip That Annoying Post-Setup Screen in One Click

If you’ve ever installed or reset Windows 11, you’ve probably run into SCOOBE — short for “Second Chance Out-of-Box Experience.” It’s the set of extra setup screens that pop up after you think you’re finally done, asking about everything from recommended settings to optional features you might want to turn on.

The idea is well-meaning: Microsoft wants to give you another opportunity to tweak your PC before you land on the desktop. But in reality, SCOOBE often feels like déjà vu, with multiple prompts that slow you down when all you want to do is start using your computer.

That’s why the latest Windows 11 beta is such a relief. Instead of making you click through half a dozen separate pages, SCOOBE is now condensed into a single, neat screen. All the optional settings appear as toggles in one place, with two big buttons underneath — “Keep current settings” or “Accept and continue.” In other words, you can now blow past SCOOBE in one click.

This is especially great news if you reset Windows often — something tech enthusiasts, IT support folks, and PC tinkerers do regularly. Less clicking, less waiting, and faster access to your actual desktop.

For now, the redesigned SCOOBE is rolling out to some Windows Insiders in the Dev and Beta Channels, so you might not see it right away. But if the feedback is good, it’s likely to land in the public release later on.

It’s a small change, but for anyone tired of “setup after the setup,” it’s a big win for sanity.
