Fire Hazard Prompts Anker to Recall Six Popular Power Banks

If you’ve been relying on an Anker power bank for daily charging, it’s time to double-check your model number. Anker has issued a recall for six of its power banks over fire and safety risks, including melting plastic components and smoke. Yes, seriously.

    Here are the affected models:

    • Anker PowerCore 10000 (Model A1263)

    • Anker 10,000mAh Power Bank, 22.5W (Model A1257)

    • Anker 20,000mAh Power Bank with Built-In USB-C (Model A1647)

    • Anker MagGo 10,000mAh Power Bank (Model A1652)

    • Zolo 20,000mAh Power Bank with USB-C & Lightning (Model A1681)

    • Zolo 20,000mAh Power Bank with USB-C (Model A1689)

Anker says the recall was triggered by concerns over battery malfunctions that could lead to fires. The company is offering a hassle-free replacement process—even if you no longer have your purchase receipt. All you need to do is photograph your power bank with the model number clearly shown and submit it through Anker’s recall portal.

Once your submission is confirmed, Anker will guide you through proper disposal—important, since these batteries must be recycled at facilities equipped to handle potentially hazardous materials. A phone call to confirm your local center can take them is recommended.

After completing the steps, you’ll receive either a replacement unit or a gift card if the model is no longer in stock.

If you own one of these, don’t delay. A few minutes today could save you from a serious safety issue down the road.
