Copilot+ Set to Enhance Windows 11 on AMD and Intel Laptops

AMD’s Ryzen AI 300 and Intel’s Core Ultra Series 2 chips are poised to elevate laptops into the realm of Copilot+ PCs, armed with the necessary AI processing power to support the advanced Windows 11 features tied to this designation. Although these chips meet the stringent requirements, they have not yet been granted access to Copilot+ capabilities. Microsoft aims to address this with a planned Windows 11 update in November, which will unlock these features for eligible devices.

This anticipated update will bring several new capabilities to the table, allowing laptops with these processors to utilize features like Live Captions, the refreshed Photos app, Windows Studio Effects, and an AI-enhanced Paint app. Previously, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Elite was the only chip to cross the 40 AI TOPS threshold, marking it as the standard-bearer for Copilot+ performance. However, with both Intel’s Lunar Lake Core Ultra Series 2 and AMD’s Ryzen AI 300 surpassing this benchmark, they too will be recognized for their ability to run Copilot+ features.

In addition, Microsoft is set to begin testing the Recall feature, a significant and somewhat controversial aspect of Copilot+, starting this October.
