Mozilla is reportedly working on a major visual overhaul for its Firefox browser, introducing a new design language codenamed “Nova.”

According to a preview shared by developer Sören Hentzschel, the redesign focuses heavily on rounded, curved elements across the interface. This includes updates to the address bar, tabs, sidebar launcher, and general content areas, all adopting a softer and more modern look.

A more fluid and adaptive interface

Beyond visual changes, Nova is expected to introduce more fluid UI elements, giving the browser a smoother and more dynamic feel. One notable feature is adaptive coloring, where Firefox may adjust its appearance based on the user’s desktop background.

Mozilla is also experimenting with subtle gradients, with early indications pointing toward a color palette that leans into violet tones.

    Still early in development

The Nova redesign is currently in early development, and there is no confirmed release timeline. Progress on the project is being tracked through Bugzilla, Mozilla’s issue-tracking platform.

If implemented as described, Nova would mark one of the most significant visual updates to Firefox in recent years, aligning the browser with modern design trends while maintaining its distinct identity.
