Game-Changing AI Features Arrive in Microsoft Clipchamp

Microsoft Clipchamp, already a top-tier video editor within the Windows ecosystem, is about to get even better with the introduction of powerful AI features. Microsoft, emphasizing AI as a key component of its strategy, is enhancing Clipchamp in three major ways.

Today, users on both Personal and Work accounts will gain access to two new tools: background removal and noise suppression. But the real game-changer arrives this fall with an AI-driven video creation feature, enabling users to craft videos simply by typing a prompt. The AI will handle everything from selecting video clips to adding audio and transitions.

Clipchamp is designed to be Microsoft’s go-to video editor for casual users, offering simplicity and efficiency as a web-based app. While it may not rival professional tools like Da Vinci Resolve in terms of power, Clipchamp is similar to other Microsoft products like Paint and Photos, prioritizing ease of use over advanced features.

One of the new AI tools, noise suppression, is particularly helpful for those without access to professional gear. This feature allows you to filter out unwanted background noise, such as wind, by toggling a setting in the Audio panel. Whether you want to eliminate distractions or maintain ambient sounds like waves, Clipchamp gives you the flexibility to tailor your audio.

The background removal feature, though common in image editing, is now available for video clips within Clipchamp. This allows you to remove and replace backgrounds in your footage, whether with another image or a different video, making it easier to create polished, professional-looking videos.

The most exciting development, however, is scheduled for release this fall. Clipchamp currently offers pre-made templates for events like birthdays and social media posts, but soon users will be able to generate custom templates using AI. According to Microsoft’s 365 roadmap, this feature will allow you to input a prompt, and Clipchamp will automatically create a video project complete with a script, stock footage, music, voiceovers, and transitions. While you’ll still need to personalize the final video with your own content, this AI-driven tool will greatly simplify the video creation process, making it faster and more accessible for everyone.
