Nintendo has announced a quirky new interactive toy called the Talking Flower, set to launch on March 12, 2026, following the unexpected success of its Alarmo alarm clock. Inspired by a character from Super Mario Bros. Wonder, this desktop accessory randomly utters comments throughout the day and reacts to user interaction via a single button press. Pre-orders are already live through Nintendo’s My Nintendo Store and select retailers, with a retail price of approximately $34.99.
The Talking Flower is designed to act as a chatty companion, speaking up spontaneously roughly twice per hour and providing greetings such as morning and evening messages. It can also comment on the room’s temperature using a built-in sensor, notify users about battery status, and even play select background music. The button allows users to trigger phrases manually or silence the device temporarily.
Supporting 11 languages at launch, the toy captures lines and whimsical quips from the game world and translates them into real-world audio. Critics and fans alike have commented on its charm and novelty, with some embracing its unique personality and others noting its potential to be more irritating than useful.
Nintendo’s move reflects a broader strategy to expand its product range beyond games and consoles, tapping into collectible and lifestyle merchandise that resonates with its fanbase. The Talking Flower complements Nintendo’s growing catalogue of interactive peripherals and themed accessories tied to its beloved franchises.
