Lenovo ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable: A Game-Changing Laptop with Expandable Screen

Lenovo’s ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable is no longer just a concept—it’s real, and it’s coming in early 2025. This innovative laptop boasts a rollable screen that expands, offering a dynamic and versatile display experience. Priced at $3,500, the ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 is designed for those who need more screen real estate without sacrificing portability or functionality. While it shares some DNA with Lenovo’s Yoga Book 9i, this laptop’s screen unfolds from behind the front display, offering users the flexibility of a larger screen without replacing the keyboard.

The 14-inch OLED screen delivers a 120Hz refresh rate and 100% DCI-P3 color accuracy in its compact mode. However, with the press of a button, the display expands to a 16.7-inch diagonal screen, turning the laptop into a portrait-mode powerhouse. This extended screen can be divided into multiple windows for multitasking, and Lenovo has made it easy to share the extra screen space during video calls, such as on Zoom or Teams, without needing an additional monitor.

Powered by Intel’s Core Ultra Series 2 (Lunar Lake) chip, the ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 promises top-tier performance while maintaining solid battery life, even with its expanded screen. The laptop can be configured with up to 32GB of LPDDR5x RAM and 1TB of PCIe storage. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, Thunderbolt 4 ports, and a 5MP webcam. Weighing 3.73 pounds and measuring 11.92 x 9.06 x 0.74 inches, it’s not the lightest laptop on the market, but the rollable screen and powerful specs make it stand out.

Despite being a prosumer device, the ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable ships with Windows 11 Pro and doesn’t include a vPro chipset, signaling that it’s designed more for power users than enterprise customers. Lenovo’s commitment to durability includes plans for MIL-STD-810H drop testing, though the device is still in the testing phase. Whether the rollable screen will become a staple in future laptops or fade away as a novelty remains to be seen, but Lenovo is clearly pushing the envelope with this new technology.
