Tomb Raider I–III Remastered Goes Free on Epic Games Store
Tomb Raider I–III Remastered Starring Lara Croft is currently available for free through the Epic Games Store for a limited time, giving players access to the earliest adventures of one of gaming’s most iconic franchises.
The collection includes remastered versions of the first three classic Tomb Raider titles along with all major expansion packs originally released for the games.
Classic Lara Croft Trilogy Receives Modern Enhancements
The remastered package contains:
- Tomb Raider with the Unfinished Business expansion
- Tomb Raider II with the Golden Mask expansion
- Tomb Raider III with The Lost Artifact expansion
Originally developed by Core Design, the remasters were later rebuilt through a collaboration between Crystal Dynamics and Aspyr using the original game code as a foundation.
The updated versions feature enhanced graphics, improved lighting and modernized controls while preserving the core gameplay and level design that defined the original trilogy.
Players Can Switch Between Classic and Modern Visuals
One of the remaster’s standout features is the ability to instantly toggle between the original late-1990s visuals and the updated graphics presentation.
The collection also includes additional challenge modes and unlockable cosmetic outfits for Lara Croft.
Although the updated controls improve movement and combat responsiveness compared to the original “tank-style” handling, the games still retain much of their classic design philosophy and puzzle-focused exploration structure.
Remaster Balances Nostalgia With Accessibility
The collection received generally positive reviews following release, with many critics praising its effort to preserve the identity of the original games while making them more approachable for modern audiences.
However, because the project is fundamentally a remaster rather than a full remake, some legacy bugs, technical quirks and older gameplay mechanics remain present.
The package currently retails for approximately $30 under normal pricing.
