X Increases Premium Plus Subscription by 40% Amid New Features

X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, has raised the price of its Premium Plus subscription by 40%, effective December 21, 2024. The monthly price for Premium Plus has risen from $16 to $22, while the annual subscription now costs $229, up from $168. Meanwhile, the Basic ($3) and Premium ($8) tiers remain the same.

Premium Plus subscribers will benefit from features such as being completely ad-free, access to Radar for real-time trend tracking, and enhanced usage of Grok AI. X also explains that the price increase will help fund a more equitable content creator revenue-sharing system. This change follows significant transformations at X since Elon Musk’s acquisition in 2022, including staff restructuring and the platform’s rebranding, prompting some users to explore competitors like Bluesky and Meta’s Threads.
